Civil service law

A civil servant does not have a contract of employment. Instead his or her employment is based upon a civil appointment.

Consequently, ordinary employment law does not apply to civil servants. A civil servant’s employment is governed by regulations, which vary from one area of government to another, while disputes between civil servants and their governmental employers are settled using the complaint and appeal procedures that exist under administrative law.

Civil service law is therefore a specialist field. Moree Gelderblom Lawyers has considerable knowledge and expertise in this field, which it is pleased to make available to clients.
